MEET DAMARIS
Damaris is a proud Fairview Community resident, passionate about protecting the environment.
She began her environmental career journey at Southwestern Community College in Chula Vista in the year 2000, transferring later to the University of California, San Diego, to complete a Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Engineering. She moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in 2009 to complete a Master of Science Degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering with focus on Environmental Fluid Mechanics and Hydrology from Stanford University in 2012. Since then, she has been living, playing, and working in the Bay Area which she is lucky to call home.
Her personal goal is to leave this world better than she found it and to work together with her neighbors and her community to ensure that we are responsible stewards of our borrowed natural resources.
Her professional goal as a California Licensed Civil Engineer is to help with the preservation, support, recovery, and restoration of the natural environment.
WHAT SERVICES DOES ORO LOMA SANITARY DISTRICT PROVIDE AND WHAT ARE THE PRIMARY ISSUES TO ADDRESS WHEN ELECTED?
Oro Loma Sanitary District (District) provides sewage collection, treatment and disposal services; and solid, recycle and green waste collection services.
The District’s service area varies depending on the service provided but it mainly encompasses 13 square miles of unincorporated Alameda County including Ashland, Cherryland, Fairview, San Lorenzo, portions of Castro Valley, and designated areas of City of Hayward and City of San Leandro.
My main priorities when elected include:
Proactive and collaborative environmental regulatory requirement compliance to protect waters of the State
Training and transferring of institutional knowledge to the next generation of workers
Sustainable replacement of aging infrastructure
Expand Oro Loma community outreach and educational opportunities
